As part of a series of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1973-2023), a cultural exchange event entitled "A Vietnamese- Japanese Love Story" took place in Da Nang on September 30, 2023. Students from Dong A University also participated and brought a touch of charm to the event through their performances.
The event featured a variety of outstanding performances that showcased the cultural heritage of Vietnam and Japan. Students from Dong A University actively participated in the event through various performances including a fashion show of traditional Vietnamese ao dai, a Japanese-Vietnamese wedding simulation, and a variety of cultural performances.
The event was also attended by representatives of the Dong A University Board of Directors, including Mr. Luong Minh Sam, Chairman of Dong A University Council, and Dr. Ngo Quang Vinh, Vice Rector of Dong A university.
With their impressive presentation of designer Anh Thu's collection, 12 Dong A University students infused the "Vietnamese- Japanese Love Story" fashion show with the beauty of cross-cultural harmony.
In particular, the highlight of this program was the reenactment of a Vietnamese- Japanese wedding on stage, performed by a young Vietnamese- Japanese couple (Le Chieu Duc and Mio Nakamura), directed by designer Anh Thu.
Six students from Dong A University participated in this performance in the hope of bringing back the sweet memories of the love story between Princess Ngoc Hoa and the Japanese merchant, from Hoi An to Nagasaki in the 16th century.
In addition, Dong A University students brought a complete and meaningful program to the audience when they performed the song "Vietnam in Me" with Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong’s spouse - Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong is the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan- and all representatives with pride at the end of the program.
The cultural exchange program "The Vietnamese- Japanese Love Story" brought forth a plethora of emotions, not only through the heartfelt stories but also through the realistic images presented through each performance. In addition to contributing to the vibrancy of the event, Dong A University students had the opportunity to learn more about the "thread of fate" that binds the close relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
