Exciting Dance and Singing Classes for Both Major and Non-Major Students
At Dong A University, artistic activities are quite familiar to students. Meanwhile, the arts are the "strong suit" of the 50 students from Guangxi University of Foreign Languages participating in this exchange. This harmonious combination made the dance and singing classes more exciting and highly anticipated.
Under the direct guidance of a choreographer from Da Nang, students from both countries experienced a professional and colorful dance class. Liu Fanduola, a student from Guangxi University of Foreign Languages, expressed her delight after learning about traditional Vietnamese dance for the first time: “I find traditional Vietnamese dance very distinctive, comprehensive, and diverse. To learn about and try a traditional dance form from another country is quite an interesting experience.”
With the increasing importance of multiculturalism and international exchange, Dong A University students' exposure to the unique aspects of the arts from their foreign counterparts helps broaden their understanding of a part of Chinese culture. During these classes, students from both universities engaged in various exchange activities and lively discussions.
Exploring Unique Aspects of Vietnamese and Chinese Culture Through Challenges
On the very first day at Dong A University, the international friends expressed their impressions of the warm and friendly welcome from Dong A University students. In addition to the dance and singing classes, cultural exchange sessions took place in a lively and exciting atmosphere, stimulating interest in learning and enhancing students' language communication skills. Here, students from Guangxi University of Foreign Languages were introduced to and enjoyed Vietnamese culinary culture, while Vietnamese students practiced conversation with their Chinese peers.
In particular, they participated together in challenges that included games reflecting the cultures of both Vietnam and China. These included traditional Vietnamese games such as reading Vietnamese poetry and decorating conical hats, which were met with great enthusiasm.
Through these activities, students not only exchanged and discussed the unique cultural features but also had the opportunity to practice and enhance their vocabulary, pronunciation, listening comprehension, and communication skills with native speakers. In doing so, Chinese students expressed a strong impression of Vietnamese culture, particularly the sense of humanity they experienced after a week of studying here.
