In a series of activity of GetGreen Vietnam – a project which is co-sponsored by program SWITCH-Asia of European Union, students of Dong A University have participated in a field trip and created with enterprises.
35 students of Department Of Social Sciences And Humanities and Food Technology have participated in exploring itinerary to vegetable village Tra Que (Hoi An city, Quang Nam province). Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – a member of Tra Que co-operative has introduced about general vegetable model of his family, history of the village and fresh vegetable model which have created a brand for vegetables of Tra Que, Hoi An.
All students found it very interesting with the information provided by Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan. The procedure of growing fresh vegetables from soil preparation to seed selection, manure, even how to make homemade manure from available components in nature are carefully guided by Mr. Tuan. GetGreen group was also surprised when knowing that farmers in the village have applied microbial technology by decomposing chaff on making manure, they have used alga for manuring from root, produced fresh vegetables in closed process. These methods do not harm the environment and be safe for consumers.
After sightseeing, all students have discussed together, suggested solutions to help customers supplementing knowledge about sustainable consumption. Specifically, each group has worked together to answer such questions as how to delivery helpful information about Tra Que vegetables to consumers online, offline or by visually introducing at the village, and growing organic vegetables at home by themselves.
After some minutes of discussing, groups of students have suggested a lot of solutions which are highly appreciated by Mr.Tuan and project staffs of GetGreen, such as designing website, holding introduction meeting, establishing fresh vegetables distribution chain, designing field trip, visually advertising by images, banderol, posters,…
When creating with enterprise, students also had chances to experience the life of the people here.
It is hoped that after this field trip, 35 students participating in project GetGreen will become notable members who promote the effects of GetGreen, promote sustainable consumption solutions and protect environment.
