(DSA) – On December 20, the International Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Dong A University (IAD) collaborated with Gemtex Institute, Ensait University, Lille University, French co-organized the International Webinar titled "Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with Applications".
The seminar took place in an online platform with the participation and presentation of experts in the Artificial Intelligence field (AI), Data Science (DS) in Belgium, France and Vietnam. This is the 5th International seminar on AI and DS organized by Dong A University in collaboration with research institutes, universities, scientists and domestic experts.
Mr. Luong Minh Sam - President of Dong A University's Council made a speech at the opening at Dong A University
“Artificial Intelligence and Data Science play a vital role in many achievements and breakthroughs of fields. Since the spread of Covid-19 in medicine, using AI for the early warning systems has helped to reduce the burden of the epidemic prevention and control force. The Big Data revolution in the healthcare field not only has linked machines and systems together but also connected people. The development of new technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and AI algorithms also help digitize industrial production activities of smart manufacturing as well as daily life in the economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic”, Mr. Luong Minh Sam – President of Dong A University's Council spoke at the seminar.
The seminar brings both an overview and specific analysis of the applications on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science that concentrate on two main fields: industrial production and healthcare.
According to GS. Ho Tu Bao – Director of Data Science Laboratory, Institute for Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), Scientific Director of John von Neumann Institute, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, said that “Through many statistics and analysis the advances of computer science that have profoundly and dramatically changed the machine learning field, Therefore, it has made very rapid advances in artificial intelligence over the past decade. The race between countries in the digital revolution is a race based on data science."
The presentation "Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with Industrial Applications" by Prof. Cédric Heuchenne - researcher, HEC - University of Liège, Belgium points out the latest advances that the team has coordinated with the IAD Institute's achievements in smart manufacturing, intelligent supply chain management and smart healthcare with AI & DS, and how AI & DS is used to accelerate the digital transformation of businesses.
The paper titled "Artificial Intelligence Enabled Prognostics and Health Management System" of Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Phuong Khanh - Researcher at Tarbes (ENIT), National Polytechnic Institute Toulouse, France introduced 7 tasks of the Prognostics & Health Management (PHM) including data collection, data processing, health index construction, error detection, diagnosis, prognosis and making a decision. This procedure allows for estimating health assessment, detecting potential failures, diagnosis of any impending errors, and predicting useful value. Then, the information and numbers provided by PHM are used to plan maintenance activities, after that maintaining the good operation of the system, ensuring the availability, reliability and safety of the overall system. Since then, looking forward to intelligent PHM solutions for dealing with real-world problems: handling data problems, considering differences between operating conditions of industrial processes, and dealing with large and complex systems.

About the presentation "Methods, Applications, and Challenges of control charts for Anomaly Detection" Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Kim Phuc - researcher of University of Lille, Ensait & Gemtex, France mentions applications of failures detection techniques in intrusive detection on computer networks, potential threats or medical problems in health data, and predictive maintenance; challenges that currently failures detection methods can solve from many different aspects. According to Assoc. Prof. Phuc, the recent development of high-tech technologies such as Smart Sensor Network, IoT and AI driving continuous improvement, delivering knowledge and making decisions based on data in many fields such as cybersecurity for industrial systems, supply chain management and predictive maintenance.
For resolving issues about data availability and privacy concerns in terms of medical data, the topic of Ph.D Student, Ali Raza, who achieved double degrees at the University of Lille (France) and the University of Kent (UK), provided a solution for an explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) based on a deep learning model in a learning technique linked to healthcare applications based on electrocardiogram (ECG).
Accordingly, the research team proposes the module based on XAI, over the proposed classifier to explain the classification results, which helps clinicians immediately make credible decisions. A proposed model was trained and tested by using the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database. The classifier reached 94% and 98% accuracy for arrhythmia detection through clean and noisy data, with five-fold cross-validation respectively.

Once again, the International Webinar “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and with Applications” has guaranteed the effectiveness of an annual forum, where those who work in research, application, teaching and management in the field of artificial intelligence, data science, information technology to promote opened academic activities, exchange ideas, connect all research results on the same topic, and look for cooperation, multilateral development.
Therefore, we are always ready to discuss and multifaceted cooperation based on the strengths of each member in training, scientific research, especially sharing of innovations and transferring highly applicable technologies in the fields of research.
