On July 3, in Danang, the International Society of Science and Applied Technologies (ISSAT) and Dong A University organize the International conference “Data science in business, finance and industry” 2019 (DSBFI).

This event is an annual forum for research, application, education and management in the field of Information Technology, Finance and Business Administration.

The conference is also a valuable opportunity for specialists to share experience and collaborate to develop. Through this event, collaboration in education and scientific research will be promoted in various fields depending on the strength of each member.

Especially, attendees can share their ideas about how to exploit data and transferring highly applied technology in research fields for policy planning as well as business developing.

The conference takes place from July 3 to July 5 with 11 sessions and 31 reports represented by over 50 international specialists from 9 countries.

Noticeably, there are research reports and practical recommendations such as “Modelling the relationship between the CSR investment and the financial performance of capital constrained firms”, “Modeling Innovation Paths of European firms using Fuzzy Balanced Scorecard”, “One - sided run rules control charts for Coefficient of Variation with Measurement Errors”, “Crowdsourcing system for measuring cognitive similarity in recommendation system”, “Dartboard - shaped spatial segmentation: Depicting Distribution of Geo - tweets and defining urban boundaries” and so on from technologically developed countries such as the United States, Japan, Korea, Canada.

Among them, there are discussions relating to exploiting available data resources for creative business models in industries or applying data resources and artificial intelligence in life, education, entertainment and sports.

According to Prof. Peihua Qiu (Florida University, America), the concept ‘Big data’ is now a common term as there are a lot of applications with high amount of data from different industries as well as research projects. In fact, big data is often data flow, which means that new data blocks keep on evolving.

Presentation report by Professor Peihua Qiu - Florida University, USA

“A basic research issue to analyze big data in a given application is sequentially monitoring the underlying process behind the observed data to see whether it is stable vertically or not or how its distribution changes over time.

To monitor a sequential process, a major statistical tool is statistical process control (SPC). This tool is mainly used to monitor the production lines in industries for decades.

With many new and flexible methods developed in the recent SPC study, SPC can provide an effective tool to deal with many large data applications in business, finance and industry.” Prof. Peihua Qiu emphasized.

Presentation by Professor Xianyi Zeng - ENSAIT University & GEMTEX Research Institute, France

At the seminar, experts and professors from other countries have come up with many solutions to effectively exploit big data sources in building innovative business models, in order to meet the needs of customers and entrepreneurs. Business models are set up on the basis of data sources. It is also known, following the program within the framework of DSBFI 2019, a training course on Basic Machine Learning and Applications directly educated by Prof. Cedric Heuchenne from Liege University (Belgium) will take place from July 6 to July 11 at Dong A University.

The course is aimed at providing a way to access, exploit and effectively use data sources for researchers and businesses in the field of data science.
