Dong A University hosts workshop on experiences in assessments and methods of university teaching

The workshop on “Experiences in assessments and methods of university teaching” has been held at Dong A University on 30th November.

With 9 presentations, the workshop brought about multi-dimensional perspectives, in-depth analysis of assessments and methods of university teaching.

The workshop was an academic forum that brought together scientists and researchers from universities in 3 regions of the country to exchange, discuss and share assessment and teaching solutions to strengthen, improve the quality of students.

At the beginning of the workshop, MA. Nguyen Cao Tri of the University of Technology - Vietnam National University HCMC, shared about the itinerary of accreditation following the ABET standard - a program accreditation organization established in 1932 by American professional associations.

According to Tri, the implementation of ABET accreditation will bring about many benefits to universities and society such as: Strengthening training quality management capacity of training programs; Affirming training quality and commitment to continuously improve the quality of training to meet the development needs of society; Facilitating graduates from accredited training programs to participate in global workforce market…

In her presentation “Innovating the teaching and learning strategy of higher education in Vietnam in the context of 4.0 education - challenges and opportunities”, Dr. Nguyen Thi Huyen - Director of the Centre for Educational Excellence - University of Sciences (VNU HCMC) pointed out the context of teaching and learning strategies innovation (TLSI), teaching and learning strategies and models, challenges and impacts of TLSI,…

At the same time, the presentation also pointed out some factors that will be changed under the effect of 4.0 education such as open study space, flexible study time, trans-discipline program framework, learning tools, digital skills, etc...

Presented at the workshop, MA. Dang Thi Kim Thoa of Faculty of Tourism (Dong A University) said that the linking training with practice, theory with practice needs to be paid attention. Educational institutions must have close cooperation with businesses under different modes of collaboration in the direction of mutual benefits.

Training institutions have the best places for students to intern, while businesses can involve in the training process, evaluation process as well as use of labor resources after graduation.
