1. Introduction
Yokohama is the capital (prefecture) of Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is also the incorporated city with the largest population in Japan. Yokohama is located by Tokyo Bay, south of Tokyo, in the Kanto region of Honshu main island. It is also the largest seaport in Japan, operating as a major trading center in the Tokyo Metropolitan Region.
Today Yokohama is one of the major trading ports rivaling Kobe, Osaka, Nagoya, Hakata, Tokyo, and Chiba.
