“What I Want to Say” Art Night at Dong A University: Where Melodies Unite Love and Filial Devotion

On the evening of June 29, the art program “What I Want to Say” was held at Dong A University in a warm, moving, and meaningful atmosphere to celebrate Vietnam Family Day on June 28.

As part of the University’s “Education Through Music” program series, the filial devotion music night offered a special emotional journey. Music became a bridge that encouraged everyone to reflect on the sacred values of family, homeland, and cultural roots.
The program welcomed University leaders, staff members, lecturers and their families, along with students from various faculties. Their participation helped promote the values of family, gratitude, and filial devotion throughout the Dong A University community.
The event also provided an opportunity for staff members, lecturers, and students to share messages of love and express their gratitude to their parents, family members, and previous generations.
Speaking at the program, Dr Vo Dac Truyen, Dean of Dong A University’s Faculty of Medicine, emphasized the importance of nurturing humanistic values throughout each person’s journey of learning, working, and contributing to society.
He shared:
“Modern life teaches us many things. We study to gain knowledge, prepare for a career, and adapt to the constant changes taking place in society. However, there is another profoundly important lesson that books cannot always teach us. It is the lesson of gratitude, love, and responsibility towards our families, where each of us is born, nurtured, and supported as we grow.
“As a higher education institution, Dong A University believes that education is not only a foundation of knowledge. Education also develops character, nurtures compassion, and teaches young people to live with kindness, gratitude, and love.
“Knowledge may open the door to a career, but character is what opens the door to life.”
The program was structured into three connected sections: “Lullaby of the Nation,” “The Family Home,” and “Happiness Carries Love Forward.”
Each section presented a musical story with its own emotional tone, guiding the audience from pride in their homeland and country to profound feelings of family affection, followed by the aspirations, dreams, confidence, and journey of personal growth experienced by every young person.
Many outstanding performances left a deep impression on the audience, including “Pain Amid Peace,” “Thank You, Mother,” “My Mother,” “Devotion,” and “Meeting Mother in a Dream.” The program also featured a recycled fashion performance titled “Vietnamese Family Through Time.”
Each performance was carefully developed in both content and presentation, creating deeply moving and reflective moments for the audience.
The program concluded with an emotional reading of the letter “What I Want to Say,” in which messages of love, words of gratitude, and feelings that had never previously been expressed were conveyed through every line.
The “What I Want to Say” music night left a lasting impression on those in attendance. It also reaffirmed Dong A University’s commitment to holistic education by combining professional training with the development of humanistic values among students.
Through music, the program helped promote a culture of filial devotion, strengthen bonds of love, and build an educational environment rich in identity, humanity, and social responsibility.
