On the afternoon of May 15, students from the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture at Dong A University had the opportunity to meet and listen to an inspiring sharing session by Prof. Kim Il Kyu from Kangwon National University.
Prof. Kim Il Kyu is currently participating in a one-year faculty exchange and research program at Dong A University.
“What kind of life do you choose to live?” — Prof. Kim Il Kyu opened his presentation with this thought-provoking question, inviting students to reflect on their own journeys and aspirations.
From a young boy who once dreamed of becoming a football player, to his academic journey at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies—a prestigious institution specializing in foreign language education in South Korea—and later completing his PhD in Linguistics at Yale University (USA), one of the world’s leading universities, his story not only inspired students in their pursuit of learning but also conveyed a positive spirit of gratitude, optimism, and appreciation for every step of life’s journey.
In particular, Prof. Kim’s sincere and relatable reflections on pursuing dreams, overcoming pressure, and finding happiness in simple moments left a lasting impression on Dong A University students.
The lecture concluded with engaging discussions, direct exchanges between the professor and students, joyful moments, and meaningful connections, bringing valuable inspiration to students on their academic journeys and in their pursuit of future dreams.
