Enhancing Academic Capacity and Standardizing Research Activities through the 2026 Scientific Research Training Series at Dong A University

On February 28, March 28, and April 4, 2026, Đại học Đông Á organized a scientific research training program for lecturers and research staff as an important component of its strategy to enhance academic capacity and standardize research activities in the current higher education context.

The program was designed as a continuous, systematic, and integrated training initiative aimed at addressing multiple requirements of scientific and technological activities within the university, ranging from strengthening methodological competencies to promoting international publication and connecting research with practical teaching activities.
The program featured presentations and guidance from Dr. Trương Gia Toại, Dean of the Faculty of Construction; Dr. Trần Đức Anh Sơn, Head of the Scientific Management Office; along with Dr. La Dương Hải and Master Nguyễn Phúc Quân, Editorial Secretary of the Dong A University Journal of Science — all experienced professionals in scientific research and academic publishing.
In terms of content, the program was structured into closely connected thematic modules that comprehensively reflected the entire process of scientific research activities.
First, the module on research methodology focused on systematizing qualitative and quantitative research approaches, identifying research problems, formulating research questions and scientific hypotheses, and selecting appropriate research designs.
Next, the module on scientific writing and international publication explored the structure of scientific papers, techniques for presenting academic arguments, citation standards, as well as peer-review procedures and methods for selecting journals suitable for specific research fields.
Another important topic covered skills for searching, utilizing, and citing scientific references. This module emphasized the use of academic databases, criteria for evaluating sources, and common citation standards to ensure research transparency and reliability.
At the same time, the program addressed the application of artificial intelligence (AI) as a support tool for information retrieval, data processing, and academic writing assistance, while emphasizing adherence to research ethics principles in order to avoid misuse or violations of academic standards.
From a practical perspective, the module on developing research topics and projects provided guidance on defining objectives, content, methodologies, and research outputs while linking them to knowledge and technology transfer requirements.
In parallel, guidance on supervising student research and graduation theses was also implemented to improve organizational capacity, orientation, and quality control at the educational level, thereby contributing to the formation of a sustainable and progressive academic environment.
Notably, research ethics and plagiarism prevention were considered core pillars throughout the program. This content went beyond identifying misconduct and emphasized standards of academic honesty, scientific responsibility, and research integrity, thereby contributing to the development of a sustainable research culture within the university.
According to the implementation plan, the thematic modules were distributed across different stages throughout March and early April 2026, allowing participants sufficient time to absorb, apply, and provide feedback on the knowledge gained. Upon completion of the full program, lecturers and research staff received certificates recognizing their professional development and the standardization of their individual research activities.
Overall, the training program not only enhanced individual competencies but also contributed to shaping the research ecosystem at Đại học Đông Á toward greater professionalism, standardization, and international integration.
