II. Position Overview
1. Position Summary
Volunteer Coordinators are responsible for selecting and supervising the volunteer staff of an
organization. Volunteer Coordinators typically are responsible for high-level activities and spend a lot of
time working independently and making their own decisions. A Volunteer Coordinator must also be able
to communicate effectively with volunteers, paid staff members and clients. Volunteer Coordinators also
manage resources to assist in the delivery of the organization’s programs and services. This includes
directly managing volunteers, and/or providing guidance, support, resources, and tools to staff who
supervise volunteers.
2. Position Requirements
- Must speak fluent Vietnamese and be highly proficient with the English Language
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to think creatively
- Must have the ability to take initiative and execute actions effectively and efficiently
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Must be friendly and eager to work with our volunteers on a daily basis
- Must possess (at minimum) a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field
- Should have previous volunteering experience
- Should have previous experience with managing small groups and/or teams
- Should be interested in working with Trellis on a long-term basis
3. Position Roles and Duties
- Act as a liaison between Trellis and UDA
- Be responsible for managing all elements of the daily interaction between Trellis’ volunteers and
- Be responsible for managing and monitoring the volunteers and ensuring that their schedules
are organized and accurate
- Be responsible for facilitating optimal levels of support for Trellis’ volunteers from Trellis and UDA
- Be responsible for mediating minor class issues as well as monitoring, supporting, and
motivating the volunteers
- Collect information and create reports on the progress of each volunteer at the end of each month
- Communicate frequently with the volunteers to help ensure that they are satisfied with their
- Assist with the planning and orchestration of Trellis’ events
- Be responsible for translating documents for Trellis
- Assist with compiling activity reports for VUFO every six (6) months
- Be responsible for contacting relevant businesses and organizations within Vietnam to assist with Trellis’ domestic growth
- Be responsible for monitoring volunteer applications and conducting brief initial volunteer interviews
- Be responsible for monitoring and optimizing Trellis’ online volunteer acquisition platforms
- Be responsible for brainstorming fundraising efforts within Danang
- Be responsible for developing, administering, and reviewing policies and procedures which
guide the volunteer programs and services, and reflect the overall values of the organization
- Be expected to develop and administer forms and records to document the volunteer activities
- Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit the right volunteers with the right skills
- Must be willing and able to represent Trellis during meetings and social gatherings
