Nearly 5 billion VND was awarded to freshmen at the opening ceremony

(Tổ Quốc) - On September 6th morning, UDA (Danang) celebrated the opening ceremony of new academic year 2018-2019 and the ‘Making Differences & Connecting Talents 2018’ festival with more than 3,000 students representing all UDA students.

On this occasion, Hoa Anh Dao Scholarship Foundation of UDA awarded 19 scholarships, offering 50% of the total tuition fee (28,462,500 VND)  each to 19 students having top enrollment results in 2018. In addition, another 468 merit scholarships (1.5 million VND) and 491 supported scholarships (1 million VND ) were given to students on their first school day. The total value of all scholarships combined in 2018 was VND 4.7 billion.

In the Opening Ceremony, the associated enterprises also offered 6 full scholarships of English courses in the Philippines, which amounted to $ 6,000 USD each to UDA students in order for them to have opportunities to improve their English.

In addition, 7 enterprises operating in different fields have signed the recruitment contract to guarantee job opportunities for graduated UDA students, with the intention of gradually increasing the number of job positions in following years. UDA also has actively entered into international job markets working with 72 corporations and cooperated enterprises to bring about more than 3,000 positions available from such as 7-Eleven, Route-Inn, Zensho, JTB, Kameda, ITS, Global Design IT (Japan), Empire Inc Holdings (Singapore) to UDA graduates, adding to the 186 students who have been working abroad in 2018.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Dao, UDA rector said “Kibi International University (Japan) and the Okayama prefectural government are willing to receive (UDA students) and guarantee long-term working opportunities for those who study collaborative program at Takahashi after graduation. Takahashi city will support up to 80% tuition fee and living allowances for those who maintain good academic results".

Meanwhile, UDA has decided to spent 5 billion VND per year since 2018 to operate and develop Hoa Anh Dao Scholarship Foundation (4 billion VND) and Fund for Community (1 billion VND) to support students and spread responsibility to community which is the UDA student’s tradition. In August 2018, UDA lecturers and students donated books to students in Tay Giang (Quang Nam), contributed 170 million VND to construct 3 bridges at Tuy An, Phu Yen, and to support 10 disadvantaged families.

After the Opening Ceremony and the ‘Making Differences & Connecting Talents 2018’ festival, many talent contests, presentations of research products from students and team building activities were organized.
